Cheap drinks in Gothenburg
If you are looking for cheap beer in Gothenburg, I recommend drinking on one of two streets: Andra Långgatan or Vasagatan. You’ll see from this handy map that the most “cheap” bars (is anywhere cheap nowadays?) are on these two streets.
We’ve picked some individual names below:
Pubs
The Queen is an English style pub ideal for pre-drinks and popular with the young crowd.
The Kings Head at the Masthuggets end of Andra Långgatan is one of the cheapest bars along the road.
Sejdeln has cheap beer and often a lively atmosphere.
The Flying Barrel is more of a gastropub but offers good prices and a comfortable seat.
Ölhallen 7:an at Kungstorget is the oldest pub in Gothenburg. In fact, so old it doesn't have a website! An interesting mix of locals to go with cheap beer and free bar snacks.
Crazy Sundays (19.00–00:00) at Beerista has a load of drinks, including beer, for just 50 SEK.
Bars
Street Life is a family run bar with decent prices and street food.
Vasa Bar has DJ's later on weekends and reasonably priced spirits, wine and cocktails.
Viiva Bar is great for an after-work drink with a vibrant friendly undertone inspired by Central American influences. Their quiz on Wednesday nights is popular.

After Work
"After Work" or "AW" is an institution in Sweden. It involves people going for a drink straight after work, typically on Fridays to welcome in the weekend. Often including drinks with colleagues, it can be extended to all friends. Lots of bars and pubs in Gothenburg have happy hour drinks deals with discounted drinks served for several hours between 16.00 and 19.00. Just remember to pace yourself!
Yaki-da has an "after work" with some great drinks offers during happy hour.
