Gothenburg's Best Spa Hotels

Sometimes you just want to treat yourself. There’s nothing wrong with that, in fact, I’d encourage it. If you want to stay somewhere where it’s acceptable to live in a dressing gown, eat healthily, be massaged and “centre yourself” you should check out these great spa hotels in Gothenburg.

Don't be put off by the industrial approach to the Arken - you'll be pleasantly surprised when you get there, with some beautiful sea views! That definitely creates a calming tone to this well-known Gothenburg's spa resort. It’s got the feeling of remoteness, unlike the two options below. You’re about 30 mins from the city centre, which includes a change of bus. The hotel lies a minute or two’s walk from the Arendal Portal bus stop.

The Art Garden Spa is an oasis by the sea. Offering lots of different warm and cold, indoor and outdoor pools, saunas and relaxation spaces to take in the wall to ceiling window views. Ideal if you want a genuine retreat. Rooms cost around 945 SEK and 395 SEK for a half-day at the spa.

The Clarion Hotel Post takes its name from the impressive former post office building that it's taken over. The exterior boasts plenty of 1920's elegance, and looks great at Christmas in a giant, red ribbon bow! It's on the same square as Gothenburg Central Station – and if design hotels are your thing, then this is the one for you. What you wouldn't know from the street is there’s a rooftop pool with some seriously amazing views. The spa's up there too. Entrance to the spa is 200 SEK per hour, or you could get a package for 885 SEK Monday-Friday, including a 40-minute treatment, entrance to the spa, towel hire, fruit, water and lunch.

When it comes to luxury hotels in Gothenburg, I can't fail to mention the Upper House. It's an exclusive 5-star hotel on the top floor of Gothia Towers. As the tallest buildings in the city, you’re obviously treated to a stunning view! At the spa, choose between a Swedish spa experience or a Turkish hammam. A central location with bars and restaurants right on your doorstep (as well as a theme park if that interests you!).

It’s conveniently located next to the transport hub Korsvägen, opening up the entire city for exploring. A room here costs over 2000 SEK per night, with massages a little cheaper at about 600 SEK!
